yeap..there IS such a thing.. ahahah!~
why do i know of it and why am i blogging it out??
that's just simple.. because UCSI had an event =.=
and i attended it.. with rakesh and aaron because their other girl friends asked..so i went lorr..
mhmm...i went..and there was our High Chancelor dunno what his name was..
but it sounded like..chin pan cake.. hahaha!! =P
anyway, so he made his speech WHICH was quite interesting..
you know the song..tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree??
well it has a story to it.. he only caught my attention later on..so i forgot the very beginning parts of the story..
it was about this convict who had his wife and kid.. i dunno what wrong he did..
but he was sentenced to jail for 18 years..and it IS a very long time..
he told his wife that she doesn't need to wait for him and that she can go find another man...
so after 18 years have passed..it was a week before he is to be released..
he writes a letter to his wife and tells her that..he's gonna be released and he asked his wife.. if they still want him back home, tie one yellow ribbon at the tree infront of their house.
On the day of release, he will take the bus that passes by their house, if he doesn't see the ribbon, he will continue his journey in the bus.
and so,on they day of release, he waited for the bus to arrive. So happen, in the bus were a big group of teenagers who were going on a trip. they were very happy and merry, singing and shouting and laughing in the bus and in the midst of happiness was this man, who had no emotions nor expression on his face. Why? He was anxious and nervous, yes..he wanted to go home but what can he expect after 18 years. He hid his emotions and ignored his surroundings. Being teenagers, they were curious. They tried to start conversations with him. It was clear he didn't want to start any conversations. But after some time, he began to answer, only in short answers like.. yes, no, maybe and so on.
After sometime, the teenagers managed to find out his story. He told them about his life. He told them he was a convict. He was just released today and what he was awaiting for. He told them everything including the yellow ribbon. He also told them where he lived. When he finished, the teenagers were awed at such a story and were very amazed. Here was a man, waiting for something so exciting to happen.
As the bus went on, the teenagers waited excitedly because his house was just around the corner. As the bus turned into the lane where his house was located, he dare not look to the right, which was where his house was. He turned the opposite way. Now the teenagers waited to see his house and when it came in sight, there were lots of noises. The man heard shouts, and screams and also sounds of people crying. Now what was it that made them this way? He was still reluctant to look the other way but curiosity took over him. He slowly turned his head to the direction of his house, trying not to hope for too much.
The man didn't see one yellow ribbon tied at the tree at his house.
He saw the tree covered with yellows ribbons. Hundreds and thousands of them.
Now, study this sentence.
I don't agree with that either. But the professor asked us to add punctuation marks to it. And she gave us this.
It still carries the same meaning. Yes, i still totally don't agree. And she said, let's put a different set of punctuation marks to it.
And the whole hall applauded (only the girls). And she said, this shows that we (women) can make changes in the world..!! hahahah!! it was so chun =P
